Coal Tower
The most used map in the 1v1 pool - compact, readable and famously balanced.
Coal Tower is the closest thing competitive Dead by Daylight has to a neutral ground. It is small enough that neither side can stall the round by running away, the tower itself gives the survivor a reliable structure to work with, and the surrounding tiles are consistent enough that both players know what they are getting. That predictability is exactly what a duel needs: the result should come from the chase, not from whether the map generated a strong loop this time.
Killers played on Coal Tower
Each of these has its own add-on bans and playstyle restrictions. The tier decides what counts as a win in ranked 4v1.
How a duel starts here
- 1Standard start: Killer Shack. The Survivor stands next to the pallet, the Killer at the door on the opposite side of the shack.
- 2The Survivor signals the start of the chase by crouching twice. The timer starts at that moment.
- 3The timer stops when the Survivor is downed. Time is tracked here on DBD Arena.
- 4Players then SWAP roles on the same map (restart the trial to reset pallets).
